Cookin' Soul featuring Action Bronson - Karate Frees

 Queens shit, Outdoorsman shit.

The first time I heard Action Castanza was in March of 2011. Shake and Mecca put Barry Horowitz up, and I was immediately enthralled. Who the fuck was this guy, sounding like my man GFK. I dug into his catalogue and expanded my search from there - who's Shaz Illyork? Maffew Ragazino? Mayhem Lauren? Who the fuck are The Outdoorsman? I dove head first into this gritty New York shit.

Flash forward and Young AB is probably my favorite artist of the last decade. Big facts for real.

So when I saw this Cookin' Soul video last month, and heard him shout out "Outdoorsman shit" in the opening ad lib, I knew this had to be old raps over a new beat. I've been familiar with Cookin' Soul since back then too - production on my Jet Life and L.E.S favorites, and so much more. I immediately tried to figure out where the raps came from - you can hear Statik at the beginning too, so maybe this was around when they were working on Dr. Lecter? The Bronselino raps are classic too - the man has matured with a different style over the decade, and this was unquestionably early Bam Bam. The flows and the topics; I knew this was immediately from 2011 or 2012. Multiple references to Saabs, various cheeses, and sports legends were a good indication.

Regardless of how old it is, it's fucking fire. Classic raps, the grimiest New York shit.
