Past Garage Vol. 1 - 1989 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

This was my Dad's car. He bought this new in 1989, and let me drive it once I got my license in 1998. 4.3 Liter V6, two door.  It was grey, with a unique striped decal package. So many memories here - I drove it until 2002; all through Junior and Senior year of high school, and then summers/vacations while I was home from college. This got me into Chevy trucks - I started reading off roading magazines, thinking about mud tires and lift on this thing. So envious of Jeff Layden's lifted Tahoe. I remember scrubbing the OWL tires to get that Uniroyal Laredo font shining. Parking in the industrial park and making out with Rachel Castignoli in the back seat. Doing donuts in Eisenhower Park parking lot. This made me want a Syclone or Typhoon too - I was really into S-10s, visiting the forums. It also got me into car audio - doing the amp install in my driveway with Tim O'mara; a 40x2 Rockford Fosgate that I thought really made my Polk 4x6s and Kenwood 6x9s bang.  This thing was a great first car.

I got in three accidents in this thing. Rear ended a Lincoln Town Car. Backed into a wall on my grandmother's driveway. Slid it into a tree in the snow. Three mistakes with this one, but not real accidents after that - until I hit the deer in the Audi. My Dad sold it to a friend who brought it to Block Island as a summer car. It promptly rusted and was junked in another year or two.
